INDICATIONS:

Subcision® is a simple surgical procedure performed in the consulting room, which is recommended for the treatment of wrinkles, depressed and other scars, including cellulite.

In these conditions, the skin relief alterations are largely due to the presence of fibrosis and connective septa that retract the skin.

Subcision® consists of sectioning the dermal or subcutaneous fibrotic septa, releasing the traction they exert on the skin and stimulating the formation of new connective tissue that fills the skin depressions.

The term Subcision® is derived from Subcutaneous Incisionless Surgery, meaning subcutaneous surgery without incision. It was first described in 1995 by Orentreich and Orentreich for the correction of wrinkles and depressed scars on the face and by the Brazilian physicians Dr. Doris Hexsel and Dr. Rosemarie Mazzuco in 1997 for the treatment of advanced degree cellulite and liposuction sequelae.

Indications for the use of Subcision®

Subcision® is indicated for the treatment of depressed scars, wrinkles and facial lines, cellulite and other skin relief alterations as well as liposuction sequelae.

Number of sessions

The number of sessions of Subcision® necessary to correct a particular defect will depend on the size, depth and location of the defect and the individual’s ability to form collagen, which is  also related to the intensity of the trauma caused by the procedure. Most wrinkles and scars respond in three to six sessions, with a minimum interval of one to two months between each session. In the treatment of cellulite, one to three sessions are usually sufficient to correct any major skin relief alterations treatable by this technique.
