Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects adults, characterized by redness of the skin and the development of papules and small dilated blood vessels on the face. Patients with rosacea have sensitive skin.

Rosacea affects mainly women between 30 and 50 years of age. In men and in some women, the severity can be more intense resulting in thickening of the skin and increase in the volume of the nose, a condition known as rhinophyma. Dry eyes and light sensitivity also can be part of the presentation.

The origin of this disease is unknown, but family history of rosacea, stress and the presence of a mite on the skin, called Demodex folliculorum, can contribute to the development of the condition. Alcohol, sun exposure, wind and excessive cold can exacerbate it.

There is no cure for rosacea, but there are several treatments to control it. Our clinics and our professionals are prepared to offer you the most modern treatments for the different forms of rosacea.
