CELULITE: PROPER AND EARLY TREATMENT CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE

Cellulite is a problem that affects almost all women at some point in life, and usually appears after adolescence. It is characterized by changes in skin relief that confer an unwanted orange peel or quilted appearance. It occurs on the thighs and buttocks and is related to anatomical aspects of the female body and influenced by hormonal factors. In women, the fat beneath the skin in areas such as the buttocks and upper thighs is thicker and, in contrast to men, it is arranged in a compartmentalised form that favors the appearance of cellulite.

The treatment and prevention of cellulite should include an individualized multidisciplinary program, since this problem has different degrees, causes and aggravating factors. Thus, some general measures are key, such as a balanced diet, exercise, adequate sleep and weight control.

Treatments with technologies such as radiofrequency, infrared, lasers and acoustic waves, are effective and can improve both cellulite and skin laxity. Subcision® is considered the most effective procedure for the treatment of depressed cellulite lesions, the famous “holes” that appear on the skin surface. This surgical technique is performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure by a trained dermatologist using a special needle. This procedure eliminates the traction that the subcutaneous septa exert on the skin, correcting the cellulite “holes”.

Our clinic offers a special integrated consultation for cellulite with the involvement of a dermatologist and an endocrinologist, if the patient wishes. It also has other specialized professionals and various modern devices for treating this condition.
